Seven modules that take you from an empty grid to a working financial model. Every demonstration runs on Bayline USA's own numbers, so the file you open is the file on screen. Microsoft 365 is the baseline, with short inserts covering where Mac and the browser differ.
Written for someone who has never built a spreadsheet, and paced so that someone who has used Excel for years can move quickly through the first four modules and slow down at formats and formulas.
Modules
- 1 Excel Fundamentals and Formatting Opening a workbook, naming the parts, typing, formatting, your first formula, and printing without embarrassment.
- 2 Mathematical Computations and Financial Functions Absolute references, the equipment loan, PMT, and the functions that do finance work.
- 3 Logical Functions and Lookups IF, nested conditions, XLOOKUP, and what to do when the lookup fails.
- 4 Dates, Text and Multi-Sheet Workbooks Date arithmetic, text cleanup, and pulling three club sheets together.
- 5 Charts and Data Visualization Picking the right chart, building it, and making it readable in print.
- 6 Tables and Pivot Tables Structured tables, 1,200 rows of point-of-sale data, pivots and slicers.
- 7 What-If Analysis and Course Integration Goal Seek, scenarios, data tables, and the Northgate build-out case.
Every module opens the same way
The first video in every module is a four-minute overview. It says what the module covers, which files you need, and what you should already be able to do. It is the only segment with nothing on screen, and it is worth watching before the rest even if you plan to skip around.
Getting the files
Each module page carries its own workbooks. Type the address straight from the slide: baylineusa.com/excel/m1 through baylineusa.com/excel/m7.
Bayline USA is a fictional company created for instruction. Every name, figure, and document in this material is invented, and identifying numbers are masked. This material is for educational use only. It is not accounting, tax, or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a professional engaged on the facts of a real business. Tax rates, wage bases, filing thresholds, and forms change; verify current authority before applying anything here to real facts.
Taught as ACG 1403 at Miami Dade College, and used for corporate and government training and on public channels. The material itself is course-neutral: nothing in a video names a college or university, a term, or an assignment. Ask about using it at your institution.
